All 16 people I tagged will hopefully write 16 random things about themselves and tag a further 16 people including me to do the same......makes great reading and gives you an insight to people you think you already know.....
sorry but I did not copy the exact paragraph that accompanies this task !!!
1- The older I get the more I love and appreciate the world around me and its beauty. I have mellowed as I have aged ! maybe that comes with age for every one.
2- I do not have a great deal of confidence with many things, this being one of them .... having read my friends 16 random things I was some what reluctant to write mine for fear of looking inferior and dorky !!!
Some one who cares for and believes in me convinced me to write it and I am amazed, as Lisa said, how much it makes you think and opens your eyes about yourself and the world around you.
3 - Families are important to every one and I am no exception. Not saying I am the perfect parent but I
do try my very best.... Its amazing how much forgiveness a mother has for her children no matter what
they do.
I'm proud of my kids and what they have achieved in life... love the grandchildren they are very precious
but hey kids can you just give it a break for a while 5 is enough for anyone at the moment !!!
Now my children are adults and no longer at home I am just about beginning to do things and buy things for ME without first thinking I should do for or spend my money on them, although, it doesn't always happen like that!
I adore my mum and will always be there for her especially as she is now more Dependant on me.
4- My goal? is to travel and see as much as I can while I can, Life can be way too short and I personally feel lucky to be here....I want to go back to New England and see the places I missed on my last visit like Martha's vineyard, Nova Scotia, cape cod. I would like to scale Mount Washington again on a clear day. Canada is another place on my list of places to visit, something Dave and I hope to do this year, providing the finances allow ! Egypt again so I can go diving with my new friend Mich, would love go to Jamaica .....Wow hope to visit a lot of places, better get some overtime in at work lol !
5- I know I can be moody at times ...but hey is that not in everyone's make up ?? I get stressed easily and care what people think about me and my actions, maybe I shouldn't !!
But generally I am a happy go lucky person but well grounded, I sometimes think my morals along with my husband and the odd friend are so different to others and sometimes this shocks us and particularly me !
I am a generous person, honest and loyal, I think I am quite patient and will tolerate a lot, but crossed I can be evil as some one special to me has discovered already !! thankfully I was forgiven !! and being ME I forgave them ...
I can be a romantic and have been known to be soppy and emotional especially when I have had a drink. I am not violent but will fight if I have to.
6 - I love music, all sorts, but don't really get to listen to much. love to blast it out in the car, to many of my friends despair, Rufus sounds great when the volume is up !! Love experiencing my friends tastes in music as most of them give mine a chance, unfortunately only one of my friends dared to go to a Rufus concert with me and (thanks to my sister) met Rufus back stage with me ...OH and my lovely husband Dave who I might add refuses to attend another Rufus concert !!... I tend to attribute songs to my situations and feelings, I use the lyrics often to express how I feel as somehow the lyrics of a song often get your point across better than saying it yourself....soppy huh !!!
7- I could never understand the fuss my female colleagues made over the hot flashes they were enduring, and often thought they were over exaggerating until NOW! Now, I have been hurled into the menopause with medication, no gradual introduction, right in at the deep end ... I'm experiencing that terrible feeling when you get that hot you can hardly breathe and feel suffocated and the disturbed sleep night after night after night....UGHHHH you men have it so dam good!
8- Politics !!! forget it !! I take as much info as I need and leave the rest to the politicians !! I don't like to get into conversations too much as it angers me.... just think I could do much better than they are doing hehehe !! I do however worry about the UK, sooner or later the UK born and bread citizens will become a serious minority and we will be over run with immigrants and Asian relatives of relatives of relatives !!! I am not race prejudice at all but the recent yrs of constantly coming across non Brits who feed off our welfare state and appear to get more help than our own people, has basically pissed me off... not their fault at all ... fault lies with Government who have allowed it in the first place........ see I am getting angry now !! (oops will probably get into bother for that comment ... I really am not racist but I do believe in freedom of speech especially in my own country)
9 - I don't claim to be a poet or artist but the creative part of me is inspired by many things like an art gallery, a beautiful scene, a lovely flower or even something amusing. Not meaning to blow my own trumpet, I think I am pretty good at what I do !
10- Love to play scrabble and have met a good many special friends through the online game. I have had the wonderful opportunity of meeting two of them and love them both dearly, one in the UK and one in USA. Most of the others I have spoken to on line or by telephone and loved every minute of it. My ambition will be to meet all those friends I have become close to, thanks to the wonders of technology.
11 - My fears ??
I dislike spiders and little creepy crawly things ! ... I suppose yes I am scared of them !!!
I fear growing old and becoming senile but will be too scared to do anything about it even if I was aware it was happening !
I was never so scared as when Joel and I scaled Mount Washington in thick fog, the feeling of extreme fear that we were going to die ! fall over the edge that we could not really see, not being in control of my own destiny... not that I didn't trust Joel's driving skills !! to laugh and cry with fear at the same time is a strange emotion coupled with the feeling that I was about to faint !!!
I fear dentists, I hate dentists !! I am terrified of needles in my mouth and the thought the dentist may drop something down my throat and choke me !!!
I fear the surgery I have to undergo, not so much the pain but the recovery, making sure I do everything right, I have dressed so many wound sites that have become infected or burst open it terrifies me and what if I don't wake from the anaesthesia or I bleed to death on the table ??? Guess everyone has those fears ?? hmm
I am scared where I will end up regarding my work, I really fear being forced into taking on a role I actually hate, in 20 years I have actually enjoyed my job, yes there has been odd days when I've been pissed but on the whole I've loved it ...
12- I love my husband, kids , grandkids, mother, sister, friends.
I love FOOD !! especially steak, and yum veggies I love veggies!
I love my dog Skooter even though he is soooooooo naughty at times !
I love my husbands new car and want one too !
I love my job and wish I was still capable of doing every aspect of it.
13 - I hate it when Dave leaves a build up of toothpaste on his toothbrush and doesnt clean the sink of toothpaste when hes cleaned his teeth!
I hate it when men piss on the floor when they use the toilet and I have to clean it !
I hate it when other drivers beep at me when I CLEARLY have done nothing wrong !
I hate cleaning false teeth !
I hate being overweight and my clothes being tight ... but will act on it I promise myself !
I hate being taken for granted or for a ride.
14 - I consider myself to be a safe driver. I do tend to drive a little too fast at times and I do rely on my brakes, I am told, a great deal !! I have had a couple of road accidents but they were not my fault !! honestly they were not !! both times my car was written off but I was driven into !! no serious injuries although I am convinced that the seat belt trauma triggered my breast cancer.
I have however ran into the back of another car, he stopped his BMW rather suddenly, very inconsiderate of him !! and as I braked I tapped his back bumper, causing a couple of scratches to his car but smashing the headlight on mine !! cost me more...never paid for his !
The other time I was an inexperienced driver and reversed into another car !! The car was not there when I parked up at work the night before and was sure it was not there the next morning !!! Im sure it was put there deliberately to piss me off !! not a lot of damage, the hardest part was to tell Dave who I was courting at the time and using his car that I had been so un observant and negligent ! I DID however pay for the repairs that time hehehe.
15- I am not a television addict and don't watch too much in fact I hate it when its the first thing dave does when he gets home. I do enjoy a good movie especial a funny one, its great to laugh. I don't watch enough world news much to the despair of my good friend Joel !!!
16 - I am fascinated with the human body and how amazing the inner workings of the body are. The human body is an intelligent piece of equipment with a great ability to heal its self. Our hearts, lungs and other organs we take for granted and its not until something happens to us that we start to attempt to understand. The major organs are fantastic in themselves but the other workings such as the nervous system, the circulatory system, the lymphatic system are so intelligent its fascinating ... I wonder who really did invent/create the human body and its amazing workings???

hey there missus.....i was out birdwatching recently and saw the most amazing double breasted matress thrasher (The lesser spotted variety)... :) ahem ahem. Anyway cool 16 things about myself thingy. My top one would be impatience so herewith a shortened version: Impatience, love kids, love music, love books, love sport, hate politics, enjoy knowing stuff (any subject), dont like chewing, like beer and whisky (in moderate moderation except when there's a huge piss-up of course), play chess (ya i'm a nerd), play guitar, write songs, paint pictures (no i'm not queer), Have five kids and currently only one wife, love arguing a point (may change sides at the drop of a hat just to stir sh#$t), very sociable, make friends easily, never been inna fight, talk too much.....

Hi Dawn - awesome ! Despite your reservation what a great piece of reading. It really is nice tyo get insight and all done in humour ! Love your point 16. Fascinates me too ..... dead right ..... we only appreciate it once it gets out of sinc and starts going wrong.

16 things about me...and the after effects
RE: 16 Random Things About Me
Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write 16 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. At the end choose 16 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you it's because I want to know more about you.....
1- Every time I take a shower I pee. And then I wonder if it's okay. And I manage to convince myself that everyone else in the world also pee's in the shower.
2- Most of the time I am a road raged manic driver. Even though I am a very safe and defensive driver. I find my self screaming out loud at other driver's. And I even consider how lucky other driver's are that I am not packing semi automatic weapons in my glove box.
3- I want to sail around Cape Horn in a small sailboat. No larger then 25 feet.
4- Not a day goes by that I don't think about the future of the world. And all the while I keep a proactive attitude about it. But beneath the surface I speculate the worse. And scare the shit out of myself.
5- I am a registered Republican.
6- I never realized it until I saw Factotum (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417658/ ). But I am secretly infatuated with Matt Dillon. He has huge fingers.
7- I have a great idea that would allow every household to recycle their own glass. But I am keeping that to myself right now. I am pretty sure I can sell the idea to the plastic industry to keep it a secret or the glass industry to bring back glass in full force and cut away plastic manufacturing.
8- My favorite color is gray.
9- I don't really care for small children but I am getting better with my old age.
10- No I don't want to do it all over again. It was to stressful.
11- Despite what most people who know me think. I actually have the patience of a saint. Otherwise I would be in prison.
12- After all these years I do believe it is finally time to admit that I need assistance with not only my 20/20 vision, but my hearing as well.
13- I still question authority.
14- I cant listen to my Ipod without listening to the Unforgettable Fire in full. I wish my t-shirt still fit me.
15- I wonder if someday all the drinks and gifts I receive on Facebook will be for real some day. And I can just download them to my counter like the Jetson's.
16- It cringes my soul when people so carefree use the word that is not a word at all. Aint

I don't know how or where to post the darned game, so here it is:
Joel, I'm not sure how you tag anyone, but I'm sure I haven't been. I'd like to play your game though, if you would indulge me.
1 - I was born a bastard, but I've worked to play against type. Most people don't call me one. :)
2 - I'm a health hypocrite. I wash my hands in the washroom not because I believe the effort will make me or others healthier, but because I'm supposed to do it. Oh, the shame!
3 - I voted for Ross Perot, and then Nader. Maybe I DO belong in Alaska.
4 - Although I've never been drunk, nor smoked a joint, recently I've wanted to get drunk
5 - I'm a terrible sexist when behind the wheel of a car. I'm just sure the stupid thing I just saw happen in traffic was done by a woman, and it almost always is. Truth be known, men make just as many mistakes are made by men, but I'm not annoyed by them. The secret is to be selective in your biases if you're going to preserve sexism. ;)
6 - At church, I sing the old lyrics rather than the politically corrected ones in the hymns. The Presbyterians, Lutherans, Methodists, and Episcopalians are all driving me nuts going around and mangling beautiful old poetry. If they are so capable at writing enduring poems that become hymn texts, then have at it, but leave the venerable old ones alone. It is unfair to judge the past by the present. That's more of my English teacher
7 - I'd rather tour a museum than watch any sort of sporting event, except anything with horses. I'm an idiot for steeple chase.
8 - I dearly love pets, but believe the nation has a growing problem giving too much love to them. In my experience, as individuals age, too many of us tend to give up maintaining close friendship and become more doting on animals, which is easier than accommodating a human who may require us to not be so obdurate.
9 - I love grits, but not in a restaurant. They have to have bacon, cheese, and probably bacon drippings added.
10 - I keep thinking I might try Vegetarian or even Vegan, but all of them look kinda stringy to me. They don't look like they'd fill up a decent taco, so I stick with chicken or pork.
11 - I have owned station wagons three times in my life, and I like them. Once, I had a GMC Sierra 1500 Extended Cab pickup truck. Suddenly, a lot of my friends started talking to me differently, with more respect. I
12 - Argumentative from an early age, I have finally foregone the need to argue with everyone about different controversies. If there is an honest dialogue going on, then sure, I love to jump in, but have no desire to foist opinions upon the intransigent. I've also come to the conclusion that it is healthy to argue with God. To not do so is dishonest.
14 - My great great great grandfather founded Leeds University, and it is a considerable school today. When I learned this, I was dumbfounded, and honored.
15 - If I could find Mr. Right, I'd make a trip to a state that allows gay marriage, and I'd tie the knot. I'm made for monogamy, but have come pretty late to the dating game.
16 - Even though I love working with my brain, I'm pretty certain I could live a happy life as a waiter, or even a personal valet.
Nice learning about you.
PS Dont get drunk either - its totally over-rated and the hangover is not worth the experience. Stick to your virtues - you seem like a great young (?) man.
